Arthritis is a painful condition that affects the global community. This occurs when the joints are inflamed. A few diseases arthritis has spawned are Ankylosing spondylitis, Reactive Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus (SLE), Juvenile Rheumatiod Arthritis, Scleroderma, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout and Nongonococcal Bacterial Arthritis.

This disease causes the breakdown of cartilage tissue. The major function of cartilage tissue is to serve as a cushion protecting bones from coming into contact. When cartilage thins, pain, inflammation and stiffness occur. Other factors like autoimmune diseases, broken or fractured bones, aging and infection cause inflammation.

The major complaint of individuals suffering from arthritis is joint pain. It may be localized or generalized. The intensity may vary from mild to severe. If left untreated, it can become quite intolerable. Here are five ways to cure or alleviate the symptoms.

1)Try to remain warm. People who have arthritis should avoid cold temperatures. Prevent pain and inflammation by soaking the area in warm water. Heating massage oils are also a good way to keep the pain contained.

2)Avoid food that has high levels of uric acid. This can cause periods of intense inflammation and pain. People with gout should steer clear from sodas, caffeine and candy. The consuming large doses of meat can also trigger the attacks.

3)Do low impact exercise to strengthen your bones and muscles. Protect your joints by wearing shoes that offer cushioning and support. Try yoga, tai chi or swimming.

4)Add calcium into your diet. This bone builder can strengthen your bones to prevent breakages and fractures.

5)Increase your intake of antioxidant rich food. This helps slow the aging process while it prevents inflammation. Stock up on supplements that contain omega-3, vitamin C and GSE (Grape seed extract).

Tips and comments:

Visit your physician regularly. Your family doctor may be able to suggest other ways of dealing with this condition. Do not self-medicate. Only take what your doctor has prescribed. Should anyone suggest different medications, write them down and make an appointment to inquire about how it may benefit you. Taking unnecessary medication can cause adverse reactions to your system.
