Introduction

Although hair growth is largely determined by genetics there are a few things one can do to increase hair growth.

Step 1

When seeking healthy hair growth the first thing one has to consider is one’s diet promotes hair growth. Hair is mainly made up of protein hence to speed up its growth one will have to increase protein consumption. Healthy Proteins can be found in a wide variety of foods like dairy products, brewer’s yeast, eggs, meat, fish, soy and beans.

Step 2

Continue to consume a healthy diet rich in nutrients to maintain a healthy body. This is because if one is not healthy the hair growth rate will slow down and the hair may even experience thinning. Healthy hair will definitely grow more quickly.

Step 3

Constant stress has been known to impede hair growth and for this reason it is important to reduce stress in one’s life. This can be done by practicing relaxation and meditation techniques as well as maintaining a regular sleep routine. Stress normally affects the normal functioning of the body systems which includes hair growth ability. Exercise is also good to encourage general body health by improving good blood circulation in all parts of the body including the scalp thereby promoting growth hair.

Step 4

Avoid using harsh chemicals on your hair such as chemical straightening or perms as they damage the scalp and hair thereby impeding hair growth. Try and look for products such as vegetable dyes and alcohol-free styling products which are gentle to the hair and scalp.

Step 5

Always protect your hair, for example by wearing hats during the summer months to protect it from damage by the sun. Also minimize styling the hair with heat using tools such as curling irons and blow dryers as they damage hair and slow down hair growth.

Tips

Always be kind and gentle when handling your hair and massage the scalp often to promote blood and nutrients to reach the hair follicles. Tugging, pulling or removing tangles roughly will cause the hair to break thereby impeding hair growth. When the hair is wet it is important that you use a bristle brush as it will really break the hair.

Split ends normally interfere with hair growth as they can sometimes work their way up to the hair shafts. It is important to always trim the hair regularly to get rid of any split ends that may cause the hair growth to be stunted. The right stylist will advise you on how often you can get your hair trimmed to get maximum hair growth.

Tips

Use a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment, which has been recommended by your stylist, on your hair regularly to promote hair growth. Regulary use the conditioner on the hair to prevent it from damage and breaking there by encouraging hair growth. Make sure to use reconstructive or protective treatments once per week on your hair as it will protect your hair from breakage which will allow the hair to grow longer. Doing this will leave your hair looking healthy and beautiful.
