How To Tip in a Hair Salon

Introduction

It is important that you tip in hair salon establishments because the stylists often make most of their money off of tips. Just like waiters and waitresses, it is important to tip them based on how well they perform. For instance, a good stylist will make much more in tips than a bad stylist. You will need to have a basis one which to tip in hair salon establishments. You should have a basic percent in mind and then move up or down based on the service that you receive in the salon.

Step 1

If your stylist is not the person who shampoos you, you will want to give your shampoo girl a couple of dollars for the service that she provides. If it is your stylist who shampoos you, then you can hold your tip until the end when you do your full service tip. Your basic full service tip, like any service tip should be about fifteen percent of the price that you pay for the services. The more your bill is, the more you will pay in a tip in hair salon services. This tip can be moved up or down based on how you feel the services were carried out. A tip in hair salon shops is so important.

Step 2

If you get excellent service, you should give an excellent tip. A good tip should be above fifteen percent and should be given directly to your stylist. If you truly feel that the service given deserves more than fifteen percent, then by all means, tip more. A good stylist is a gem that you want to hold onto so don't tip sparingly. Make sure that you tip from what the stylist deserves and what you feel is a good tip or expression of your gratitude for the services that were provided to you. A good tip in hair salons truly matters to the stylist.

Step 3

If you get bad service or are not happy with how you were treated, then you are not going to want to give a full tip. This is a difficult situation. If you are a regular customer, you may want to be careful how you go about tipping because it could backfire if you ever need the services of the stylist again. Giving no tip is not the same as giving a low tip. First, you should try to let the stylist know that you are unhappy so that she can correct the matter in salon ways. If you cannot get this resolved, you will need to base your tip on the service that was given to you. The tip lets your stylist in hair salon shops know that her services were lacking.

Step 4

The service industry is often short-changed when it comes to tipping. So many people still think that a dollar or two tip is sufficient in hair salon environments and that is just not the case. You should tip well for well service given and tip poorly for poor service. This will keep things balanced and in order and let someone know if they are doing a great job! Great work should be rewarded in hair salon shops. Do not be afraid to add a personal note of thank you if your stylist does a fantastic job. This will setup a good adage for later services.

Step 5

Tipping should be based on a normal percentage of fifteen percent, but you should not feel obligated to tip that amount. Your tip should be solely based on how well your stylist performs on her job. If she performs rudely or is not professional, then her tip should reflect that. Do not get stuck into the mindset that says you must tip a certain percent at all times. If the tip is not included in your bill, then you are not obligated for any certain amount. The tip is your thank you note to how well you were served. A good tip is only deserved in hair salon shops if the services were great.
