Introduction

Andrew Bird is a musician from America. He was born on the 11th of July in the year 1973 and is a famous musician. He also writes songs and is well known because of the fact that he can play a number of musical instruments.

History

Since he was four years old, Andrew Bird was trained in the Suzuki method. The Suzuki method is a method developed by a Japanese man named Shin ‘chi Suzuki. Suzuki wanted to bring peace and joy to the minds of children after the terrible incidents that took place during the Second World War. Thus, he thought that teaching them to play musical instruments would help them to become good, sensitive citizens. It is often said that playing a musical instrument is like learning a new language. Suzuki was learning the German language but found it very difficult. At this time, he noticed that children were quite adept at learning languages. He thought that if children could learn languages so quickly and efficiently, then surely they could be taught to play musical instruments too. Thus, the Suzuki method was developed. The method involves formal instruction of music to kids as young as 3 years old. The Suzuki method discourages competitive attitudes and focuses on teaching children to enjoy music. Andrew Bird was trained in such a way too and this helped him to become a highly proficient musician.

Andrew Bird was born in Chicago, Illinois. In the year 1996, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in music for playing the violin by Northwestern University. Andrew Bird was amazed by European and American folk music. He incorporated these elements with jazz and blues in his first album which was known as "Music of Hair." "Music of Hair" was released in 1996, soon after Bird graduated.  It featured him playing musical compositions on the violin. Andrew then worked with a band named Bowl of Fire. The band did receive some critical acclaim and managed to launch three albums. However, the band did not have much commercial success and Bird thought that he should become a solo artist.

Features

Andrew Bird performed as a solo artist until the year 2006. He gained much recognition because of his ability to improvise his compositions during live performances. To say that Andrew Bird is a talented musician would be an understatement. He is an experienced musician and his repertoire is extensive.
