It has the ability to imitate the sounds made by other species. Apart from imitating others, the bird has its own unique sounds also.

Meaning they like to have open spaces as well as dense shrubs and thickets. The birds are highly unique in their foraging manner. They like to wander on the ground for food. They may wait on a tree limb or high post to have a view of the insects around. Then they swoop in to pick up any they have found. While nesting, both the male and female help to build the nest. The mockingbirds mark their territory through singing in the area. They use various tunes to mark the area. This is mainly done by the male of the specie. The male mate builds many different nests. Then the female chooses which one to mate in. there are usually three to four eggs during a season. When the eggs hatch, the male and female both take part in feeding the chicks. These birds like to wander in both the suburbs and the rural areas. They have no qualms whatsoever in building nests in the trees of a backyard. Mocking birds will come to eat fruit and bread placed in a birdfeeder.
