5 Things You Should Know About Football Scottish

Introduction

Football is the worlds most popular sport (known as soccer in this country), and its quite a craze in Scotland as well. Scottish Football has been doing the rounds for quite sometime now, with teams like Rangers, and Celtic who have hordes of staunch fans who would do almost anything for their favorite teams.

Scottish football is primarily supervised, governed, and administrated by the SFA or Scottish Football Association. It was established and started in 1873. It is an official member of FIFA, and is partially responsible for the realization of UEFA. The association is situated in Glasgow, in the vicinity of the Scottish Football Museum. The Scotland national team and the teams that have their roots in Scotland are controlled by SFA. SFA also presides over the Scottish Cup that occurs annually. 

Numerous teams are present in football Scottish who vie for championship titles against each other. Some teams who fight it out in the Scottish Premier League are Celtic, Hibernian, Motherwell, Rangers, Kilmarnock, Dundee United, St. Mirren and more. Of these Rangers have won the league title a whopping 54 times, and they are the only team in the world to do so. Other teams who duel in the Scottish Football League are Greenock Morton, Livingston, Raith Rovers, Queen of the South, and Falkirk.

Rangers and Celtics both belong from Glasgow and both share an incredible rivalry and are collectively given the epithet of Old Firm. They have contested 397 times, with Rangers leading the number of wins with 158 games under their belt compared to Celtics 144. They are together valued at 120 million pounds. These teams are top two teams of Scotland.

Football Scottish have shone brightly in various competitions in and around Scotland. In 1969-70, at the stadium of Hampden Park, a massive 136,505 people came and witnessed a semi-final game where Celtic duelled with Leeds United. Scotland fought valiantly with England on the football field which was beheld by a colossal 149,415 people in 1937. At a Rangers game 118,567 people were registered to be at the field, and it is the highest number of people for any league game in Britain. The Celtics have gone until the last sixteen twice in the UEFA Champions League, where as Rangers have achieved that once.
