About the Vacation Club Disney World

Introduction

Disney Vacation Club is a timeshare program that enables you to purchase your own share of a Walt Disney World resort. Are you an extreme Disney lover? Disney Vacation Club gives you flexibility and affordability on all of your vacations. You are not simply limited to visiting Disney resorts, but can travel around the world and see areas that you never thought possible.

History

The very first Disney Vacation Club resort that was built, was Old Key West. Disney's Old Key West Resort opened on December 20, 1991 and was the first vacation ownership resort built by Disney. Following Old Key West, Walt Disney World saw an extreme interet in vacation ownership on their property. Disney's BoardWalk Villas came next, followed by the Wilderness Lodge Villas, Beach Club Villas, Saratoga Springs Resort, Animal Kingdom Villas, and Bay Lake Tower. Bay Lake tower is the most recent addition to the Disney Vacation Club family. Plans for more Vacation Club resorts are in the works and will continue to be built as long as people continue to purchase.

Features

Disney Vacation Club uses a points system for going on vacations. When you purchase a Vacation Club membership, you are able to select how many points you would like to have. The more points you buy, the more expensive it will be. Points can be redeemed to vacation for a few days or a few weeks. Use them all at once or spread them out through the year to go on several vacations. Disney Vacation Club offers the flexibility that not many other vacation ownership programs have. Just because you purchase at one Disney resort, does not mean that you can not enjoy accommodations at others. Your points can be used to stay in other Vacation Club resorts. You can also use your points to exchange through the other member getaways. Plan a trip to Hawaii or California. The choice is yours when you are a Vacation Club owner. If at any time you would like to add more points to your ownership, you can purchase additional real estate.

Of course, with Disney Vacation Club ownership, comes a price. The amount that you pay will depend on the amount of points that you receive with your ownership. Because you will be owning real estate, there is a one time purchase price of $20,000. This can be paid at once or as a mortgage. There are also maintenance fees that can be paid yearly or monthly as you chose. These fees can vary each year. Typically, you will start your vacation ownership with 160 points and more can be purchased if desired.

You will also receive certain benefits as a Disney Vacation Club owner. Take advantage of discounts at select restaurants, spas, rentals, tours, golf, and annual park passes.
