How To Protect Yourself From Mascular Disease

Have you ever wondered why we have muscles and what are their purposes in the body aside from just giving our body our shape? Like any other parts in the body, the muscles too have their important functions in the body. They help us in different ways and that is why we need it to be healthy too.

Knowing the functions of the muscles will make people understand their importance. And the fact that muscles can also get affected by diseases will give furthermore insist that it should be taken cared for.

To understand how to help the muscles to be in good shape and how it can save you from diseases, you must first know what they are.

The muscles in our body account for most of our body’s weight. These are tissues with cells that are specialized and the ones responsible for our ability to flex. Our muscles allow us to make our body movements because of their characteristic of being elastic that can contract and relax if needed.

Part of the functions of muscles is to maintain the temperature in the body and at the same time it supplies energy to our body. The energy is taken from the stored glucose which the muscles convert from the carbohydrates from the food we eat. So the moment a body part is exhausted, muscles are there to supply the needed energy. That is why in almost all parts of the body, muscles are assigned.

Types of Muscles

There are different types of muscles in your body. These muscles are categorized as the skeleton muscles, smooth muscles, and the cardiac muscles. The smooth muscles are those found in our stomach, air passage and blood vessels, and digestive system.

The skeleton muscles are the muscles that help the body move and they are the larger muscles. These are the muscles that make it possible for people to make movements like flexing.

The cardiac muscles on the other hand are only found in the heart and nowhere else in the body. But the cardiac muscles and the smooth muscles are the non-striated ones unlike the skeleton muscles which are striated.

Diseases and Prevention

Muscles get diseases too.

One common muscular disease is the muscular dystrophy. It is a chronic condition and is inherited through the genes.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is also one of the muscular diseases. This causes severe tiredness in the person and can lead to being disabled.

Another is Fibromyalgia Syndrome. The main or primary syndrome of this disease is pain and discomfort to the patient. 

These and other muscular diseases can be prevented. Here are some tips you might want to consider to prevent these diseases.

Try to do balance exercises and strength training. Regular exercise can avoid sprains and strains.

Hydrate yourself to avoid muscle cramps. Avoid overusing your muscles.

Always find time to relax your muscles after repetitive movements.

These tips are just to avoid your chances of these diseases. But if you feel something not right with any muscle in your body then don’t hesitate to consult with your doctor.
