Tips on Buying Clothing For a Baby Infant

Baby infant clothing is one of the biggest essentials that you will need when expecting a new addition to your family. Because you will not be sure how much your child will weigh at birth, it is best the purchase baby infant clothing in different sizes. The smallest size, being preemie, is typically only needed for babies that are born before their due date. Newborn size is what your baby will wear when they are first born. Depending on their size, they may go straight into 0 to 3 month sizes. Never buy too many newborn sizes of baby infant clothing because it will be outgrown quickly.

Step 1

One of the biggest mistakes that new parents make, is buying too many baby infant clothing pieces in the smallest sizes. Many children skip newborn sizes when they are first born, or only wear them for a couple of weeks. You should only have a small amount of baby infant clothing in newborn sizes. If having a baby shower, request that you receive clothes in a larger size that you child can eventually grow into. It is also better to have clothing that is a little too big, than to have baby infant clothing that is too small.

Step 2

Baby infant clothing consists of a number of differnt pieces, that you may have no idea what they really need. A good place to start, is to buy about 5 to 10 onesies that can be worn around the house or under other clothing, 5 to 10 sleepers or pajama onesies, at least one warm and heavy sleeper if you live in a cold area, lots of socks, and a couple of infant hats that will keep their little heads warm. You can adjust these numbers for baby infant clothing as you see fit. If you do not want to do laundry as often, you may want to buy more of each type of clothing piece. Remember, babies spit up, wet themselves, and get dirty often, so you may be going through more than one outfit every day.

Step 3

Buy some baby infant clothing in neutral colors. With today's technology, most expecting parents already known if they are having a boy or girl, but sometimes errors can be made. It is always in your best interest to have a few baby infant clothing pieces that are in neutral colors, such as green and yellow. The last thing that you want is to have all pink clothes and then find out that you delivered a baby boy. Though this is a very rare instance, it never hurts to have these neutral colors incorporated into your child's wardrobe. Plus, you may get tired of pink or blue eventually.

Purchase your baby infant clothing from outlet stores and clearance racks. Because children outgrow clothes extremely fast, especially when they are infants, there is no reason to spend tons of money on clothing. You can find the same brands and same designs when you purchase at an outlet location. Even better, outlets such as Carters usually have percent off coupons that can be used to receive an extra discount on your baby infant clothing purchase.
