Introduction

With so many magic potions in little boxes, one tends to wonder if they are all the same. Twenty-five-year-olds endorsing skin wrinkle cream make one curious if all skin creams are made to combat wrinkles. After, all moisturized, toned healthy skin wouldn't get wrinkled.

History

The main cause of wrinkles and sagging skin is the loss of collagen and elastin. Collagen is a fibrous protein that provides firmness to the skin and Elastin is a protein that helps the skin stay flexible. As we age, the skin produces less of these proteins and wrinkles appear.

A skin wrinkle cream is specifically made to combat the cause of wrinkles. They contain collagen and elastin to supplement the reduced production in the body. Skin wrinkle creams also contain Tretinoin, this is more popular as “Retin-A”. This stimulates the mitotic activity and increased turnover of follicular epithelial cells which increases the skin firmness and so reducing the onset of wrinkles.

Features

Some very effective skin wrinkle creams are also known to stimulate the action of regulatory proteins known as Tissue Inhibitors of Metalloproteinase (TIMP), so attenuates the signs of aging by reducing the degenerative effects of excessive metalloproteinase (MMP) activity. While most of the skin wrinkle creams are easily affordable, such molecular level potions however, do not come cheap.

Skin Creams on the other hand, could be made to combat to other skin issues. Skin Creams containing antioxidants repair cellular membranes and protect from damage due pollution. Those containing hydrating products are specifically made for dry skin to promotehealthy tissue development. There are also skin creams made for combating skin issues due exposure to extreme temperature conditions like skin tanning in summer and chafing and cracking in winter.

A basic skin cream contains formulae ranging from natural cocoa butter extracts to Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea, Aloe Vera and many other skin care products. Regular use of a skin cream can keep the skin supple and soft. However, there is no evidence that this will help in preventing the onset of wrinkles.

Tips and comments

However, once one decides on using a wrinkle cream, it is advisable to pick one up based on skin type, so it can replace the existing skin care routine, rather than to add on to it as most wrinkle creams do contain the basic products of a skin care regiment, unless of course specific ailments like cellulite or scars are being treated.

While there is a lot of argument that anti-wrinkle creams provide no more than a placebo effect there are also clinical trials that show that Skin Wrinkle creams if not treat or eliminate wrinkles, they defiantly due delay them for a reasonable time.
