Regardless of age and sex, skin is a very important part of our body. The skin is basically the window to what's going on with our bodies internally. There are several different types of treatments available for skin ranging from acne treatments to peels. Each of the treatments has a purpose, whether antiaging qualities or just keeping your skin looking healthy and vibrant. In order to determine which treatment is beneficial for your skin, you will need to a little research.

Step 1

Visit with your dermatologist. Visiting with your dermatologist at least once annually is a great way to determine what is best for skin. Dermatologists are trained in both clinical and cosmetic skin care needs. If you've never visited a dermatologist for skin before, you will need to be prepared for the first visit. Your dermatologist will need your full medical history as well as any information you may have regarding your skin issues. With this information, a dermatologist will then give you a full skin check, determining a fuller understanding of your personal skin care needs.

Step 2

Listen to your dermatologist. Once you've completed a full skin check with your dermatologist, he or she will recommend certain skin care treatments that he or she feels may benefit you. There are several types of treatments available for skin. For example, people with eczema may be referred to emollient creams or oral antihistamines. People will acne issues may be referred to Salicylic acid products or even over the counter products like Proactiv.

Step 3

Continue to follow a good skin care regimen and good hygiene: It is suggested that you wash your face at least twice a day, even more if your very physically active and sweat a lot. Washing your face and body daily is good for skin as it keeps it clean, refreshed and washes away any thing that may be clogging your pores. Along with washing your face, moisturizing is also very important.

Step 4

Avoid certain things like greasy foods, oily foods and salty foods as they are known to cause acne problems for skin. Try to eat healthy foods like fruits that are high in vitamin C such as oranges, kiwi and grapefruit. Make sure to eat lots of vegetables as well as vegetables like broccoli and raw red peppers are known to have antioxidant properties for skin.

Step 5

Keep yourself hydrated. Water is good for a variety of reasons, one of them being that it keeps your skin refreshed and hydrated. If you go from drinking two cups of water daily to eight cups of water daily, you'll see a huge difference in your overall complexion.


Some other tips for skin are to avoid touching your face often, with your hands. If you wear sunglasses or glasses often, try cleaning them daily in order to prevent oils from clogging your pores near your nose and eyes. Washing your hair is also beneficial for skin, as for most women, your hair touches your face. If you keep your hair clean, it prevents additional dirt's and oils from making their way into your pores. Lastly, another tip for skin is to keep it safe from the sun. Tanning and too much sunlight may actually worsen acne and other skin conditions.
