Introduction

How To Find a Cheap Web Domain

Today’s Internet boom has led to the availability of a lot of cheap web domain. In fact, if you look hard enough, you can even find some free web domains. This shouldn’t be surprising though as these prices have actually been going down over the years. Now cheap web domain are readily available so that almost everyone is able to own their own web site.

Step 1

You should look into cheap web domain hosting, not cheap web domain name registration. This can be confusing for some people. Usually you’ll only end up paying just a few dollars for domain name registration. What you will end up spending the most money on are the monthly charges for hosting. For this reason, you’ll want to spend your effort looking for cheap web domain hosting instead of cheap web domain names.

Step 2

Consider using an extension other than .com. While .com is the most commonly used URL extension it is oftentimes less expensive to purchase a domain name with an ending other than .com. So, make sure that you look at the prices of various extensions (i.e. .info, .net, .org, .biz) as they’re usually cheaper. However, there are also a lot of extensions that are more expensive than .com so be careful here. Usually the ones that are more expensive are country domains (i.e. .uk, .eu) though.

Step 3

Oftentimes you can use a subdomain for free. These are available from a lot of different web sites. By using them you won’t have to even buy a domain name. With a subdomain your web domain name would look like this: MyPersonalDomain.MainWebSiteDomain.com. This is a great way to start off with your first web site before you purchase a cheap web domain name for yourself.

Step 4

You may be able to get either a free or a cheap web domain name whenever you sign up with a company for web site hosting. This is something that you may want to look into. In order to find them though you may need to conduct a simple web search. If you can’t find a web host who’s willing to give you a free web domain name though, you can always purchase your domain name for a period of several years. By doing so you will be able to make each year’s registration fee just a little cheaper.

Step 5

Instead of a cheap web domain, consider hunting down some free web domain parking. There really are some web hosts in business today who will allow you to park your web domain name for free on their server. What this means is that your web domain name will come up with an “Under Construction” message whenever someone looks for it.

Tips

Take your time! Make sure that you do your research so that you are able to find the best domain name for you or your business before rushing in to purchase something that won’t work for you. The worst thing that you can do is waste your money buying a web domain name only to later discover that there is a problem with the name that you purchased.
