Jobs From $30,000 a Year With No Degree

Introduction

The job market is tough today. It seems that it is almost impossible to find good paying jobs without a degree from one school or another. Although this is true in many fields, there are still many jobs for those with no degree paying from $30,000 and up per year. In most cases, you still need some education, but a trade school certification is something you can obtain in six months or more, and it costs less than college.

No-Degree Career Options

Air traffic controller jobs can make anywhere from $50,000 up to $74,000 a year. This career does require strenuous testing by the Federal Aviation Administration, the FAA, which includes mental and health testing. But it is something that can be done without a degree and big college debt. This is not an easy career to get into because it is a highly competitive field, but knowing someone already in the business can help.

Registered nursing jobs can bring in anywhere from $45,000 to $69,000 a year, depending on the area. Although there are nurses who have a bachelors degree, becoming a registered nurse can also be done through a two-year RN program at a community college or nursing school. Nurses are always in demand and can work in hospitals, schools, and certain businesses, so the opportunities for employment are large.

It may be surprising to some, but becoming a commercial pilot does not require any kind of degree. Training of course is required, but this can be done without a lengthy or expensive college degree. Depending on the airline, commercial pilot jobs can range anywhere from $40,000 to $55,000 a year. This is a job that requires you to be away from home a lot, but there are perks, such as discounted fares when you are not working.

Wedding planning is big business today, with some jobs bringing in anywhere from $80,000 up to triple digit incomes, depending on the area they live in. No schooling is required to become a wedding planner, but an eye for detail and an expert at organizing is important. A wedding planner must also be able to negotiate, take control, and be able to advise the bride every step of the way. Wedding planning jobs from clients who enjoy big weddings can bring in thousands of dollars per event.

Hairdressing may not seem like a glamorous job to many, but everyone needs a hairdresser at some point and time. Hairdressers do not need a college degree, but they do need to go to school and pass a test for their license. This can be done in a vocational school or beauty school, some high schools even have cosmetology programs set up for students. The average hairdresser can make anywhere from $35,000 a year while a top hairdresser, like for celebrities, will bring in a three digit income.
