Introduction

Windows XP that is known as “eXperience” and it is also one of the most popular operating system by Microsoft. Windows XP works best for use on laptops, personal systems including business and home use. It was the second version of Windows from Microsoft and was released on 24 Aug, 2001. After that, Microsoft still worked for the betterment of features in Window XP. Recently, Microsoft has stopped with the released of XP windows service packs.

History

It is actually for Windows updating and problem fixing in previous versions of Windows. XP windows service packs also help to make Windows more reliable. Each new XP windows service pack is a combination of all the pervious patches with some new features and enhancements. You have to install XP windows service pack, if you still running the old versions of Windows that are without XP windows service pack. XP windows service packs are of three types SP1, SP2 and SP3.

Installation of any upgraded version of XP windows service packs required previous versions of XP windows service packs as perquisite. So, one has to manually removed the previous version before installation of new one, otherwise more space will occupied for duplicate features. But you have to take a lot care while removing file that are not necessary if you are considering an automatic file removing. XP windows service packs are developed to provide high security and performance to the users of Windows XP. Each version of XP windows service packs is develop to overcome the criticized aspect of Windows XP user’s such as security concerns, integrated application and user interface issues. The first version of XP windows service packs was released on September 9, 2002 is known as SP1 (Service Pack 1). SP1 is developed to provide the updates in you operating system of Windows. Later On February 3, 2003, Microsoft released another version of XP windows service packs and this version is known as SP1a (Service Pack 1a). SP2 also added some new features to XP including compatibility of encryption, wizard utility with excellent support of Wi-Fi, IE6 (internet explore6), and Bluetooth enhancement. In 2006 and 2007 two more enhancement had been released with SP2 and they are known as SP2b (service pack 2b) and SP2c (service pack 2c).

The Third and last version of XP windows service packs was released on April 21, 2008 and known as SP3 (Service Pack 3). It has focuses on so many new features including NX APIs (it helps to application developer), black hole (default router detection), SHA-2 (signatures supporter), access protection for network, wired adaptor for network and Security provider. One can now install of XP windows service packs depending on their needs and requirements and can easily keep their systems up to date.
