The purpose of writing this article is to help readers to know about the Google.mail.com. It is a Google website for providing free webmail service. It is a website for providing free webmail service. It was launched on April 1, 2004 and made available to the general public on February 7, 2007. Google mail was ranked second in PC World's "100 Best Products of 2005", behind Mozilla Firefox. Initially it offered 1GB storage capacity per user but it significantly increased to 2-4 GB to stand with its competitors like Hotmail, yahoo mail. Any Gmail message can of up to 25 MB size which is comparatively larger than any other mail service support. Google.mail.com has a search-oriented interface & a "conversation view" like an Internet forum. On May 3, 2010, Google's email service changed its name to Gmail. Currently Gmail provides more than 7 GB free storage per account. Georges Harik, the product management director for Gmail, has stated that “Google will keep giving people more space forever so you will never need to delete any message”.

Mobile access:

Gmail Mobile is another version of Gmail service. It is intended to provide Gmail user’s free access to their Gmail account via mobile phones or smart phones. With the help of Gmail, mobile users now have the ability to compose, read, archive, reply, forward, mark unread, add a star, add custom labels or delete email messages.

Chat immediately:

This feature helps you talk with people you email, with the help of built in chatting messenger inside Gmail. Thus if required person is online you can chat with him rather than mailing him and waiting for his response.

Un-clutter your email:

This is another service enhancement in which Gmail organizes and automatically groups emails into conversations.

Security:

Gmail uses HTTP encryption to keep your email secure. Gmail is set on 'Always use https' setting by default, but user can change this setting anytime.

Google Voice in Gmail chat:

It is a plug-in provided by Gmail to integrate telephone service within Gmail's Google Chat interface. Initially it was called "Google Voice in Gmail chat" but later on it was properly named as Google Video and Voice Chat. This service allows people to make free calls from their Gmail account to US and Canada and they can also call other countries as well but on a fee basis.
