Top Tips For Bar Food

When you hear the term "bar food," what do you think of? Chances are, images of chicken wings, big greasy bacon cheeseburgers, french fries, fish and chips, cheesesteaks, buffalo chicken sandwiches, and so many more dishes instantly come to mind. However, what also might come to mind when thinking of bar food are images of low quality food to consume while drinking copious amounts of alcohol next to a bunch of drunks and lowlifes. In some cases, that may be true, but in this day and age many bars have upped the ante when it comes to bar food.

Step 1

When choosing the best place to eat bar food, do research ahead of time. Use Internet websites such as Yelp, Yahoo, or your local newspaper to read reviews both from critics and from people just like you in order to get an idea of what bars offer the best bar food in your area. You never know what you might find by performing research ahead of time. Another benefit of doing this is discovering any potential specials these places might offer. You may also find coupons this way which you can print out or present on your smartphone when you show up. The only thing better than eating good bar food is getting free and/or discounted bar food

Step 2

Once you've found the perfect bar, the next step of course is to actually go there. Study the menu carefully. If they offer a wide variety of craft beers or imported whiskeys, order yourself a nice drink as you study the menu and relax. It's always a good idea to order an appetizer when drinking as well. This could be anything from quesadillas, spinach and artichoke dip with fresh tortilla chips, or chicken wings to more creative and unique options like gourmet egg rolls or wonton wraps. This will give you plenty of time to whet your appetite while perusing the menu and deciding the best bar food for you and whoever you're with.

Step 3

Consider ordering something you've never eaten before. The great thing about bar food is that many bars offer a great deal of unique options. Rather than opt for the typical cheesesteaks, burgers, fries, or other boring foods, go for something you can't get anywhere else. Provided that this is within your budget, consider splurging a little if it's something that really sounds good. Remember that going out for bar food is something that you don't necessarily do often, so it's okay to go all out once you do so.

Tips and Comments

It's always best to go out for bar food with friends or loved ones. There's no greater enjoyment of a meal than one spent with the people who mean the most to you. This will also allow you to order several different plates. If you go to a bar that offers large portions of bar food, you can order a wide variety of different options and then have everybody share the food with each other. You could even have everyone just rotate plates every few minutes so that everyone gets an equal share, or you could simply ask the waiter, waitress or bartender for additional small plates so that all of the people in your party can take as much or as little as they would like.
