How To Find Information on Miscellanous Diseases

Introduction

There are millions of miscellaneous diseases in the world. Some have cures that may or may not work, some are curable almost 100 percent of the time, and some are not curable whatsoever. If you are trying to find information about miscellaneous diseases, there are several places that you may start to look at for statistics and information on these.

 

Step 1

The library is an excellent place to start looking. Once there try to find medical guides with many miscellaneous rare diseases listed. Also you can go through the entire medical section and look for specific books regarding the disease that you are in search of looking up information about. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, ask the librarian as that is what they are there for to assist you with the location of a certain type book that you are seeking out to read.

 

Step 2

Check online by going to a major search engine. You can try many different paths where looking online. One of the first things that you can do is to search for a medical encyclopedia online. Once you have access to one, search for rare or miscellaneous diseases unless you know the specific disease by the common name.

Check on some online medical information boards. A lot of times professionals and non-professionals post answers and questions about miscellaneous issues on these type boards. Some good information can be found but by reading other peoples questions, answers or opinions.

Step 3

Look in the encyclopedia and see what you are able to find. If you know the name of the actual disease that you are in search of it will help you to find what you are looking for. It potentially may give you another term to try searching once you have found one miscellaneous diseases that you are trying to find.

Step 4

Go to the National Institute of Health Office of Rare Diseases department which can be accessed either online, or in person (depending on your location). This website offer insight on rare diseases, treatments of and causes of miscellanous diseases. It also offers publications and message boards from other people who are dealing with certain issues due to the diseases as well.

This website gives information about genetics testing how to's, clinic information and research resources for you to access 24 hours a day via the online site. This website is a government affiliated site that has true to number statistics, not just other peoples opinions that are not statistically correct.

 

 

Step 5

The rare disease site also offers information on many different rare or miscellanous diseases that you may be interested in reading about. This site offers information from many different countries and list disease in each that are considered to be "rare" for that area.

Tips

If you feel as thought you may have a rare or miscellanous disease, do not hesitate to see your doctor as it may be something that is able to be controlled through diet and exercise. Sometimes diseases people think are uncontrollable can be reversed if caught early.
