Florida State University
Located in Tallahassee, Florida, Florida State University is a four-year public university that is home to over 40,000 students. Established in 1851, the school offers over 300 programs of study and is made up of 15 different colleges. Some of the most popular majors at Florida State include apparel and textiles, social sciences, criminal justice, marketing, biology, communications, English, international relations, finance, political science and family and consumer sciences. It is also a popular choice for film students because of its College of Motion Picture Arts.

Florida State University has been ranked as one of the top 50 public schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. The publication also ranked it 104th in 2011 amongst all of the nation's colleges and universities.
University of Florida
The University of Florida is not only one of the best colleges and universities the state has to offer, but it is also one of the largest universities in the United States. With an enrollment of over 51,000, the University of Florida is located on 2,000 acres in the heart of Gainesville, Florida. Business, engineering, early childhood education, history, food science, political science, psychology, sociology and health sciences are popular programs at the four-year public university. The school, which was established in 1853, is comprised of 16 colleges, 300 undergraduate and graduate majors and five professional degrees.
University of Florida is also ranked high by U.S. News and World Report. In 2011, it was declared 17th best public school and the 53rd best university in the United States. The school has also been considered to be one of the "Public Ivies" or a public school that provides an Ivy League experience for students.
University of Miami
The University of Miami is not only considered to be one of the best of the colleges and universities the state of Florida has to offer, but it is also one of the best colleges and universities in the entire country. In 2011, U.S. News and World Report ranked it as the 47th best university in the United States.
University of Miami is a private institution that is home to about 15,000 students. Its main campus can be found in Coral Gables, Florida, but it also has other campuses in the area. The school is made up of twelve different colleges that offer over 180 programs. In addition to its Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, popular programs at the University of Miami include nursing, marine biology, accounting, business administration, political science, public relations, marketing, finance and psychology. The school is also known for having a diverse student population.
