How To Use Foods Vitamins To Prevent Diseases.

Introduction

It seems like everywhere you turn these days, chronic diseases are plaguing our world. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's are making our loved ones sick and unable to enjoy life to the fullest. While cures to these unfortunate diseases have not yet been found, many people believe taking certain vitamins and eating certain foods can help prevent them. 

Step 1

Anytime you got a cold as a child, your mother may have forced some Vitamin C down your throat, whether it was in the form of a pill or a big glass of orange juice. Vitamin C is said to many powerful benefits, one of the most commonly known is the ability to strengthen your immune system. but did you know it has other benefits as well? Some say Vitamin C can help prevent heart attacks, strokes, cancer and diabetes. As a bonus, it is good for your skin. Vitamin C deficiency can even lead to scurvy. Vitamin C can be found in a number of foods. These include citrus fruits, cherries kiwi fruits, broccoli and can'taloupe. You can also take the vitamins in pill form.

 

Step 2

If you shop in a drugstore, you may have noticed large jars of cinnamon pills next to diabetic supplies. What was once used mostly as a spice for baking is now thought to be a way to help control blood sugar. Some say cinnamon even helps to prevent adults from developing diabetes. Cinnamon can be purchased in the pill form or you can sprinkle it on your foods. Other foods said to help regulate blood sugar, as well play a role in the prevention of diabetes are almonds and broccoli. Think about that next time you go to the grocery store. As far as vitamins that help lower blood sugar, zinc and magnesium have long been touted by some experts.

Step 3

Several different vitamins and foods are said to help prevent heart disease. While research is not conclusive about all of these foods and vitamins, they are important to your body and you more than likely wont hurt yourself by taking them.

Folic acid, as well as Vitamins B6 and B12 are thought to play some role in preventing heart disease, due to the role they play in homo-cysteine metabolism. Vitamin E is thought to help prevent heart disease, while Beta-carotene is thought to help prevent smokers from developing the disease. While it has not been scientifically proven, some people believe that foods such as garlic, berries, salmon and quinoa can help prevent heart disease as well.

Step 4

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in the country die from cancer, and yet, we still can't find a cure for the many different types that plague our bodies. However, many people believe that there are some foods that play a role in keeping your body free of the disease. Some of those foods are garlic, tomatoes, green tea, blueberries, flax seeds, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, mushrooms and grapes.

Step 5

Alzheimer's disease and dementia are becoming a major problem for older members of our society, yet so little is known about what causes these types of problems. However, many people believe that a diet rich with fish can help prevent them. Fish such as salmon, tuna, trout, sardines and mackerel are full of omega-3 fatty acids that are good for your brain and your heart. Green, white and oolong teas are also said to prevent the onset of Alzheimer's.

Tips and comments

In addition to eating these foods and taking these vitamins, a healthy lifestyle is the best way to prevent the onset of any disease. This means exercising regularly, eating a well-balanced diet, not smoking and getting plenty of rest. Also, remember that your body needs certain vitamins to function regularly and a deficiency can cause any number of problems.
