In some cases it may even be okay to make up a new name for yourself, if you want to protect your identity or create an online pseudonym, but you should be careful as this may be off-putting to some people who are trying to prevent being scammed and spammed con artists and the like.

Create your email name and password according to the restrictions set forth by the email service provider. For example, the number of characters in the name may be limited to less than 20 numbers and letters. Some providers may allow users to include a special symbol in the name, such as a period or hyphen.
