Creating a Web Hosting Name

Creating a web hosting name for your website is an important part of designing your website. Your web hosting name is what your website will be called by other people and should be something that others will remember easily. Try to think up a catchy domain name that is direct, to the point, and gives users an idea of what your website is about. For example, if you have a website where you are selling shoes, a catchy name could be something like Shoe Zoo. A long web hosting name will not be easily remembered, so it is important that you stick with something that is short and sweet.

When the computer and Internet were first invented, web hosting name creations were not available. Websites simply went by their ip address and because not many people were owners of computers, this was not a problem. As computers were distributed and the Internet became readily available to users, web hosting name creations became available. Starting with just a few basic domain name extensions, such as .com and .net, your website can now take on many different extensions, such as .org, .ca, .uk, .fr, and many more. When buying a domain name, be sure to look at the different extensions that are available for your website.

To create a web hosting name, you must first choose a domain name provider to register with. There are tons of websites on the Internet that allow you to purchase domain names from them, some offering free or cheap hosting with your purchase. Go Daddy is one popular domain name provider that allows you to purchase a web hosting name at an affordable price and get a free basic hosting plan with it. This hosting package does include ads, so if this is an issue for you, you can upgrade to a better package for a small additional yearly fee, that is ad-free. When you first visit the Go Daddy website, the first thing that should catch your eye is a large domain name search box. Where it says, "search for a domain name", you can enter in the web hosting name that you would like to use. Then select a website extension from the drop down list.

After searching, you will see results that are available for your desired web hosting name. You preferred extension that you chose will be listed at the top of the results and additional extensions that are available will be shown below. You will also see the current price per year for registering your selected domain name and extension. Add your web hosting name to your shopping cart and continue the registration process. When buying a hosting package from the same provider as the domain name, you can easily sync the two together to have your domain name directed to your very own, personal or business website.

Tips and comments

Think about your domain name choice long and hard before registering it. Make sure to go with something that you will remember and be able to spell easily.
