Introduction

Compare Private Mental Health Care To Public Mental Health Care

Mental health care services or providers are for people with any sort of mental or psychiatric illness, be it big or small. Not too long ago mental health care was only considered an option when things went out of control. Now though, people and medicine have advanced and even a small disorder is diagnosed and treated and that person is not considered a miss fit to society. There are many caregivers for private mental health care these days side by side to public mental health caregivers. Recent times have seen quite a conundrum and hostility between the two. Some insist that private mental health care is better than public and vice versa.

History

Compare Private Mental Health Care To Public Mental Health Care

Let us look at each in turn; mental health caregivers can include general practitioners, psychiatrics, councilors, clinical social workers and even nurses employed in psychiatry departments. In recent years there has been a rise in private mental health care. This privatization has been getting some finger pointing as those in favor of public mental health care consider private care can never replicate the resources that come with public care. Many government seniors argued that mental care is something so sensitive that it is best left in one place rather than privatizing and dividing resources and quality. Yes, it is true that many well known psychiatrists and doctors cut the cord from well known institutions and opened up their own practices.

Now as to what might be the difference between them. One can compare the two when considering individual factors. For example one thing that public mental health care has plenty of is space. Thus if you are looking for institutionalizing someone they prove to be better. Also, these institutions have a rehabilitation scheme attached so it is not like some come and go thing as with private mental health providers. Another thing is the cost; of course private practitioners will burn a hole in your pocket while public ones are usually government funded or will suffice with your insurance documents. On the flip side, one thing private caregivers are proud of is the personalization of their jobs. They mostly tend to the top cream of the economy thus they make you feel that you are the most important person in the world to them. They take fewer patients thus remember more facts. They call an onslaught of patients a conveyor belt and insist that their patients are special to them and so is their individuality. It is also believed that public care emphasizes on medicine while private mental health care on counseling.

Tips and comments

So you see it is not about public or private, it is all a matter of preferences you can say. The institutionalizing part is a strong factor though many private practitioners even visit homes now so as not to make a big deal out of someone’s mental illness. This new practice has been applauded since getting registered to an institution “labels” you. Thus yes, private mental health care has its perks with a more personalized and thoughtful approach. However, it is always recommended to go to public centers when conditions get violent.
