Introduction

People use the Internet to do just about anything that is possible in a digital and virtual environment. In the past, people may have used a telephone book to find a company name in the yellow pages. Before that, people may have relied on word of mouth in order to find out the name of a company. Although these methods still exist today, and remain very effective ways for finding businesses, the Google Corporation has fundamentally changed how people find company names.

In fact, businesses are very aware of the significance that Google plays on the search engine landscape. Small, medium and large businesses seek to have the organization's Web presence listed first in search results, usually as the official website. And this is where many companies encounter problems being found on the Internet by consumers and other business customers who want to find them.

The Internet has regulations and restrictions, and many of those are established by the Google Corporation, itself. However, that does not stop third-party companies and individuals from setting up websites that sell and even represent another companies brand name. Consumers are very cautious about websites that seek to scam people because happening upon an unauthorized or unofficial website is what exposes Internet surfers to identity theft.

You can follow at least five different recommendations on how to use Google find company name.

Step 1

Use the basic Google search engine to find company names. How to do this is innate to most users already. If you know the name of the company, such as Wal-Mart, Target or Apple, you simply input those terms in the search box at www.google.com. The developers at the Google Corporation have systems and checks and place to usually direct you to the official company's website.

However, if you enter additional search terms, you may happen upon a third-party website. For example, typing in "Apple iPhone Reviews" may take you to literally thousands of sites that offer varying points of view on this device.

Step 2

Use the Google Finance Web page to significantly narrow your search for company names. How to start this process is fairly easy. You can simply type the term "Google Finance" in the search box in the Google search engine page and you will be directed to this website.

Alternatively, you can type www.google.com/finance in the address bar at the top of your Internet browser, such as Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Type the name of the company in the search box and you very specific corporate-related information.

Step 3

Use the Google tool bar plug-in to search for the company name. How to start this search depends on if you already have the plug-in, add-on or add-in installed. Most people automatically have the Google tool bar installed because it accompanies third-party downloads as bloatware.

Step 4

Use your installed Internet browser's search engine box to find company names. How to start this search depends on if your browser already shows this search box. For example, if you use the Firefox browser, you can add a box to the toolbar that gives a choice of using the Google, Yahoo! or Bing search engines to find information.

Step 5

Use the Google Maps to find company names. How to start this search is as simple a clicking on "Maps" at the top of the Google search engine Web page. Enter the company's name and you will get local listings as well as listings all over the world.
